The majority are dialysis patients but we also have many enquiries from dialysis professionals, researchers and travel companies. According to the US Renal Data System, the average age group for dialysis patients is 45-64. The Male:Female ratio is 7:5.
How many visitors to Global Dialysis?
As many people are aware our site has been down for sometime, as Russell has been very ill. Visitor numbers have dropped down and we are currently having around 6000 unique visitors per week. However, the site is undergoing a huge overhaul, once this is complete we are confident that our numbers will be shrtly back to levels in 2006. The vast majority of our users are still haemodialysis users and the site remains an excellent vehicle to use to send your messages to them.

This figure is very misleading because it is a count of files (images etc.) so isn't a true count of visitors/page views. For example:
- 1 page view with 10 images on the page will count as 11 hits
- 1 page view with 100 images on the page will count as 111 hits.
Incidentally, we use very few graphics on our website. This allows faster browsing and is more suitable for browsers for the visually impaired.

How popular are we on the search engines?
According to the research firm Nielsen/NetRatings, Google's share of the global search market in February 2006 was 48.5%, more than double the 22.5% share its nearest rival Yahoo.

Traffic Ranking
Alexa rankings aren't perfect, but they can offer a very good indication of how popular a website is. The rankings are calculated by how many times websites are visited by users with their Alexa explorer toolbar installed, around 10 million users. Our highest ranking on Alexa has been 39,295. Based on 18 million websites trawled by Alexa, we are in the top 0.23% visited sites of ALL websites on the internet, not just dialysis websites. Pretty good considering we had never advertised. The Alexa website has a tool to compare traffic rankings/page views/reach between websites, useful if you are considering online advertising. Incidentally, Alexa are owned by Amazon.
